Results Delivered: Transforming Safety Leadership -Embedding Core Beliefs for a Culture of Commitment

Genii Earth, together with senior construction executives, identified eight core beliefs that today are the backbone of their safety leadership and commitment touching 100s of sites and 1000s of workers. These beliefs transformed the ability of 300+ key leaders to walk the talk of their commitment to safety. Their transformed culture touched hundreds of job sites and thousands of workers, earning recognition from their largest clients.

The Challenge

For many years, the Construction Company was known for a deeply held commitment to safety. But with accelerated growth and the addition of new employees and sub-contractors, safety performance faltered. How might the company reignite a culture of safety excellence across new teams and job sites, and continue to delight their longtime owner-clients?  The company recognized a need for a refreshed understanding of company values along with more effective, employee-first responses to safety incidents. Genii was engaged to design a discovery and intervention process to support the long-term growth strategy of the firm.

Genii Earth’s Solution

Genii, in partnership with both the construction firm and the client, designed a discovery and learning process that both revealed and coached participants in the core beliefs, values, and behaviors that they desired to see throughout their organization. Beginning with their client site, key leaders actively engaged their teams to enroll and engage in the core beliefs to help embed these beliefs into the fabric of the company. Genii Earth designed the intervention, facilitated the stakeholder conversations, and coached key leaders in applying these core beliefs in an active execution environment.

The Results

Over a period of 18 months, the performance on the client site earned the project team recognition for improved self-performance as well as improvement of other contract partners on the site.

As a result of this success, the construction firm, with Genii’s support, introduced the core beliefs, and developed guides to support the adoption of these core beliefs across the organization.

In just 6 months, we worked with 6 superintendents to build a solid foundation and enrolled 11,000 new contractors in our NCO content. The shift from convincing to enrolling empowered us to align everyone with our core beliefs, significantly enhancing our GUTs program.
